The Underworld War (魔界大戦 Makai Taisen?) was an extremely massive and horrifically brutal conflict that swept across the entire Underworld that lasted for seven years, from 2027 to 2031. It began as a series of violent uprisings and armed rebellions with the realm's dominant superpower, the Underworld Commonwealth, before it escalated into a full-scale war between the Confederation against the Underworld Legion, a coalition of Underworld nations and anti-Commonwealth insurgents and rebels, led by the awakened by the Undergod Desfelmion.

Prelude[edit | edit source]

The nations and social order within the Underworld, especially the member-states within the Underworld Commonwealth, were in disarray after the Babel War, which resulted in many of the world's remaining mythological deities and three of the Four Great Demon Lords, Saron Lucifer, Sarah Leviathan and Ocharos Asmodeus sealed the Apocalyptic Beast 666 within the Isolation Barrier Field, which unfortunately took them along with it. As a result, Adis Beelzebub remained to lead the Commonwealth on his own.

Within the span of four years, the Commonwealth's economy collapsed, many incompetent politicians and governmental leaders were put in position and many protests and riots were put down, each time more violent than the last. Eventually, the member-states of the Commonwealth descended into anarchy.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Underworld War has several parallels and connections to the Arab Spring, a series of various anti-government protests, uprisings and revolutions in the Arab world, some of which escalated into armed rebellions and civil wars.
