- The name Souji means "total, gross, general, all, whole" (総) (sou) and "earth, land" (地) (chi/ji).
- Souji's surname Murakawa means "plexus, bush/clump of bushes, thicket, grassy place" (叢) (mura) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa).
